It’s not secret that President Donald Trump is polarizing America, if not the world. Trump was recently called a “dotard” by North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and now JAY-Z is adding another descriptor for Trump — “a joke.”

In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Hov was asked about the changes that are going on in America under the leadership of Trump. Despite the heated racial tensions and some of the problematic decisions made by the administration, JAY is optimistic that black people will get through it.

“Usually, when things are darkest, then light is on its way. I’m not fearful,” he states. “I believe that we’re resilient, especially us, as black people, especially the culture, we’ve been through so much more than this guy. This guy, I’m looking at him like, ‘Man, this is a joke. With all…I can’t even say with all due respect. With all disrespect.”

“I just think he’s not a very sophisticated man, especially when it comes to the idea of until everyone is free, no one is free. Period. That’s just a fact,” he continued. “We are all linked some kind of way. So if you oppress a certain people, everyone is in danger, karmically and in real life. If I’m being oppressed and you have this big, nice mansion, I’m coming inside there. That’s gonna happen, that’s just how life is.”

Elsewhere in the interview, JAY-Z talks about his family life, his album 4:44, his past rap beefs, and somberly, the loss of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington. “Hopefully his death serves as a wake-up call,” he said. “Mental health is a real thing and you never know what people are going through.”
