Trina & Trick Daddy Aim To Take It To Da House With Reunion Collabo Album
In the early 2000s, Miami, Florida-based Slip-N-Slide Records was a Rap power-house. Before they would help introduce Rick Ross and Pitbull, Ted Lucas’ label was a higher profile home to local artists-turned-mainstream stars Trick Daddy and Trina. Between 2001 and 2004, Trick dropped three Top 10 albums, while Trina’s peak came in 2008, through Still da Baddest. Between the two of them, they have one platinum album, and another five gold releases.
Together, these flagship artists worked on hits like “Nann Nigga,” “Shut Up,” and “Tonight.” One of the more memorable male-and-female tandems is back to claim their stake in Rap music. In an interview with Mass Appeal, Slip-n-Slide’s Ted Lucas confirmed he has re-signed two of his most successful artists, and is pairing them together. “[Trick Daddy & Trina’s collaboration album is] just something the fans always wanted, and now we’re officially going to make it happen,” Lucas said this month. “Trick put Miami on the map with gangsta music, which was different from all perspectives. When Miami was known for booty-shaking, Trick was able to change the culture of what people thought about of Miami music, and Trina was able to put female rappers on the map. We’re excited about it, and looking forward to it.” The album will be reportedly called Trick & Trina.
Notably, Lucas said that Trina and Trick are back with Atlantic Records, the very label they found pinnacle success in the 2000s. That label is presently home to Wale, Action Bronson, Gucci Mane, and others.
Recently, Terror Squad’s Fat Joe and Remy Ma reunited for a joint album, Plato O Plomo. That February RNG/Empire album debuted at #44. Additionally, Faith Evans is releasing a Duets album with her late husband, The Notorious B.I.G. In 2016, Jermaine Dupri and Da Brat released a number of songs together as well, via the So So Def Records imprint.

Trick Daddy, who has publicly battled lupus, last released the Top 40 Finally Famous: Born A Thug, Still A Thug in 2009. That was his first album without Slip-N-Slide in a career that dates back to the mid-1990s. He now co-hosts the Famous & Uncensored video podcast. Trina’s 2010 Amazin’ LP reached #14 on the charts. She has since appeared on albums by Run The Jewels, Lil Wayne, and Juicy J.
