Raekwon Is Stepping Into the Wild With a New Solo Album, Coming In March
Today (January 12) is Raekwon’s birthday, but it’s his fans who are getting gifted. The Wu-Tang Clan member and legendary MC announced the release date, title, and artwork for his seventh solo album. The Wild will arrive on March 10 and sports exceptional cover art from Dan Lish.
It’s been nearly two years since Raekwon released his last solo LP, Fly International Luxurious Art, but he’s been keeping busy doing more than recording. During much of 2016, Rae’ was on the road with Ghostface Killah on the Ragu Tour, and some troubling legal issues cleared up last summer could have had a serious impact on his career. While Wu-Heads await a new album from the group commandeered by Ghost, 2017 is shaping up to be the Year of the Chef, and from the looks of his announcement on Instagram, he’s not biting his tongue about anything on the LP. “This project was designed for the culture of Rap to know aint a dam thing change since the beginning of my career,” he writes, saying of the LP’s name “with all the shit thats goin on today ……this title rolled off my tongue like alkaline water in the bloodstream.” Though it appears Raekwon disputes the release date, Pitchfork has reported that it was confirmed to be March 10 by a representative.

Though a tracklist and any featured artists’s names have yet to be released, Rae has proclaimed the LP to be a megawatt production. “YALL GON LOVE THIS CLASSIC. !!! GUARANTEED,” he exclaims.
