Q-Tip Shares Unreleased Kendrick Lamar Collaboration ‘Want U 2 Want’ [LISTEN]
If you caught Q-Tip’s Abstract Radio program on Beats 1 on Friday night (Feb. 9), you heard a great musical treat. The A Tribe Called Quest member shared an unreleased collaborative track with Kendrick Lamar called “Want U 2 Want.”
On the song, Kung Fu Kenny is rapping about his wants and needs to a potential lover.
“I want to see you fall through / Quick fast, without having to call you,” he raps over a downing piano groove, a funky beat and a guitar riff. He later adds, “Never seen a stop singe or a stop light / I wanna see what living on the top like / You wanna see what living on the top like.”
Q-Tip appears near the end of the song as he sings a few lines on the bridge, which goes, “She needs me, uh, I need her, uh / Downtown, uh, me first, uh, me first, uh me first / She needs me, uh, I need her, uh.”
“Not really new, but whatever,” said Q-Tip about the song. There’s no word if he plans to officially release it in the near future.
In addition to “Want U 2 Want,” the Abstract also dropped another collaborative track with Demi Lovato called “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” which is a remake of Elton John’s classic 1976 song of the same name.
