R&B singer Miguel brings the funk on his latest single, “Cadillac,” which is from the upcoming soundtrack for Netflix’s hip-hop-based drama, The Get Down.

The song, which premiered today (Aug. 4) on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 program, will take listeners back to the 1970s where funk and disco music reigned in the clubs. Over funky synths, roaring guitars, orchestral strings and horns, Miguel celebrates love in the backseat of his sexy ride.

“Heaven’s in the backseat of my Cadillac,” he repeatedly sings on the chorus. “Let me take you there.”

Stick around for the ending as the song goes into a lush crescendo of horns and heavenly-sounding synths.

The Get Down soundtrack is stacked with a powerhouse list of artists, according to EW.com. Singers Christina Aguilera, Zayn, Leon Bridges and Raury have contributed songs to the project.

In addition, tracks from Grandmaster Flash, Jaden Smith and Nas, who is among the show’s executive producers, will appear on the collection. Grammy Award-winning producers Nile Rodgers, Malay and Emile Haynie handle the bulk of the production.

The series The Get Down is about a group of Bronx-based teens coming of age in the gritty streets of 1970s New York.

Nas wrote all of the rhymes for the cast members including the main character, Ezekiel “Books” Figuero (played by Justice Smith).

Six episodes of The Get Down will premiere on Netflix on August 12.
