Kanye West’s Donald Trump Tweets Prompt Massive Unfollows from Celebrities

While the rumors of West losing as many as 10 million followers proved to be untrue, a mass exodus of celebrities have unfollowed him on Twitter. Among them are former collaborators Rihanna, John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar and Katy Perry, according to Business Insider. Other celebs include Drake, Rita Ora, Migos, Ariana Grande and many more.

Unfortunately, Chance The Rapper’s attempt to defend West got him labeled as a Trump supporter so he quickly had to squash that rumor. In part, he wrote on Twitter, “I didn’t speak up because I agree with what Kanye had to say or cause I f— with trump, I did it because I wanted to help my friend and cause I felt like I was being used to attack him. Unfortunately, my attempt to support Kanye is being used to discredit my brothers and sisters in the movement and I can’t sit by and let that happen either.”

“Anyone who knows me knows how passionate I am about my city and my loved ones. Kanye West is not just a mentor or big homie to me. He’s my family,” he continued. “No matter how much I may disagree with him, it’s hard for me to watch people talk about someone I love — even if they were justified in doing so.”

But it appears that West is not phased by the backlash his “free-thinking” tweets are causing on social media. Recently, he tweeted that people should spread more love than hate.
