Janet Jackson has five Grammy awards, nine MTV Music Video Awards trophies, and an Oscar nomination. However, the 30-plus-year music superstar may have just received her biggest accolade to date. In 2019, Jackson will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
The ceremony will take place at Brooklyn, New York’s Barclay Center on March 29, 2019. The 52-year-old Gary, Indiana native will join a class that includes Radiohead, Fleetwood Mac member Stevie Nicks, Def Leppard, The Cure, The Zombies, and Roxy Music.

The youngest of the Jackson children, Janet’s career began in the 1970s, acting on the family’s CBS variety show. She moved into roles on Good Times and Diff’rent Strokes. By the 1980s, the performer moved into the record industry. She released her debut eponymous LP in 1982, overseen by the likes of René & Angela, Leon Sylvers III, and Rufus’ Bobby Watson.
After two albums, Janet’s career skyrocketed during the mid-1980s. At that point, the songstress had fired her management, including father, Joe Jackson. Her third album, 1986’s Control, linked Janet with producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. The album yielded five Top 5 singles, with “When I Think Of You” topping the charts.

In 1997, Janet’s five brothers, The Jackson 5, were inducted. In 2001, Michael Jackson was inducted a second time for his solo accomplishments.
