Ex-Patriots RB Dion Lewis Sounds Off On “Cheap” Pats After Titans’ Big Win

Former New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis said the Pats got what they deserved yesterday in Tennessee, as the Titans dominated in a 34-10 blowout victory. Lewis, who compiled 68 yards of offense against his former teammates, described the Patriots organization as “cheap” and said the win was personal.

“Hell yeah, it’s personal,” the 28-year-old said, per ESPN. “When you go cheap, you get your ass kicked.”

“I didn’t have to prove anything,” Lewis told NFL Network after the game. “I know I can play. I just had to let our team know that these guys are beatable. … I know those guys. I know that you be physical with them and let ’em have it and they’ll fold.”

Lewis spent the last three seasons in New England, including a 2017 campaign in which he racked up 1,100 yards from scrimmage, but the Patriots let him walk as a free agent this off-season allowing him to sign a deal worth four-year $19.8 million.

He wasn’t the only former Patriot who was looking for revenge. Titans cornerback Malcolm Butler, who was benched by Bill Belichick in Super Bowl LII, added, “We want to beat everybody, but this one right here was a little more satisfying.”

The Titans moved to 5-4 on the season with Sunday’s impressive victory and will now shift their focus to a division matchup against the Colts in Indianapolis next week. The Patriots are still sitting atop the AFC East at 7-3 as they head into the bye week with Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman looking to get healthy before the team’s Week 12 matchup against the New York Jets.
