Boot Camp Clik Reunites For The First Time In 16 Years
Life is too short to listen to bad music. So…let Ambrosia For Heads sift through it for you and only supply you with that great stuff. Despite the reports, Hip-Hop is alive and well and, in many ways, it’s better than it’s ever been. Not only can we go back and listen to all of our favorites at the click of a button, but there is also a ton of great music still being made by artists, young and veteran alike…if you know where to look. To help with that task, we’ve created a playlist with recently released music. We update it regularly, so subscribe to follow us on Spotify if you like what you hear.
One of Hip-Hop’s most respected brands is back at it. Today, the Boot Camp Clik reunited to release its first song in 16 years. The collective includes Buckshot, Tek, General Steele, Rockness Monsta, Starang Wondah, Top Dogg, and Louieville—and was co-founded by the late, great Sean Price. Notably, BCC has officially added longtime crew affiliate Ruste Juxx as an official member. The song, “Wotcha Call Strength” is a statement about loyalty and Brooklyn brotherhood from the super-group grabbing from Black Moon, Smif-n-Wessun, and O.G.C.—which made waves since 1997’s For The People. BCC last released 2007’s Casualties Of War.

With the new song, Boot Camp Clik is performing at the Rock The Bells Festival. The August 5 event in New York City features LL Cool J with DJ Z-Trip, Salt-n-Pepa, Method Man & Redman, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, De La Soul, MC Lyte, Slick Rick, and many more.
“In honor and celebration of Hip Hop 50, we felt that the Boot Camp Clik’s catalog of work, contributions, and legacy needed to be recognized properly,” Duck Down’s co-founder Dru Ha said in a press statement. It’s too easy to sit back and say the Hip-Hop community should verify you, and [it is] painstaking to go out and have to remind people with words, so we felt there was no better way to make a statement than to drop a new record with all the original members—rest in peace to Sean Price. With a high-energy track provided by The Arcitype and a ferocious lead-off verse from Rustee Juxx, the guys were inspired to work together as a collective again. Although it’s been many years since they’ve recorded together, they all remain bonded by their shared experiences and legacies. Once again, they truly demonstrated there’s power in numbers, showcased the unique chemistry they have with one another, and fittingly entitled the track ‘Wotcha Call Strength.’”

The Arcitype has previously made several albums with Juxx. In 2019, Black Moon reunited for Rise Of The Moon. That same year, Cocoa Brovaz offered The All—named one of AFH’s best albums that year. This Ruste partnered with Nine and The Snowgoons for the classic Hip-Hop-inspired “Double Trouble.”
In addition to “Wotcha Call Strength,” the AFH playlist features recently released music by Joey Bada$$, Rome Streetz, Meyhem Lauren with Madlib and DJ Muggs, as well as Statik Selektah.

#BonusBeat: In 2017, AFH partnered with Duck Down to make a “Now You See Me” version of Sean Price’s “Clans & Cliks,” featuring Smif-n-Wessun, Rockness Monsta, Method Man, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, and Foul Monday:
