A$AP Rocky May Face 6 Years In Prison For Allegedly Defending Himself From 2 Men Who Were Stalking Him
A$AP Rocky is currently being detained in Stockholm, Sweden. The Harlem MC/producer is currently under investigation following a Sunday (June 30) altercation with two men. Rocky was in Stockholm for a concert amidst a set of European festival dates that the Polo Grounds/RCA Records artist must now miss. He was taken into custody Wednesday (July 3), and is scheduled to remain in a detention center for two weeks, according to TIME. Meanwhile, police are further investigating the incident that Rocky and his team assert was an act of self-defense.
The New York Times reports that Rocky’s attorney, Henrik Olsson Lilja, wants to appeal this ruling. “He, of course, is very disappointed, and this is a catastrophe for his tour,” the lawyer told the newspaper. “Of course, a world artist like him would come back to Sweden if there is a trial in the summer or fall.” This weekend (July 7), Rocky was scheduled as a headlining act for London’s Wireless Fest. He has paused his world tour, and canceled upcoming shows in Norway and Poland.
New Details Suggest 21 Savage Is A Victim, Not An Impostor
On Sunday, ahead of his Stockholm show, Rocky posted several clips to Instagram. He alleged that two men were following him and his entourage.
In the caption, Rocky referred to the men as “drug addicts” and alleged that they were “slapping girls butts” on the streets of Stockholm. In another clip, an apparent passerby says that the two men were inappropriately touching strangers.

In a second clip, that is approximately three minutes long, the interaction escalates between the men and Rocky’s security guard. It appears that one of the men throws his headphones at the security detail. The electronics break on the ground. In a segment of the clip, Rocky tells the men after the headphones are broken, “Listen. Listen. Listen: We don’t want to fight y’all; we’re not trying to go to jail.” Moments later, Rocky adds to the camera, “We don’t want no problems with these boys; they keep following us.”
A video clip published on Tuesday by Aftonbladet, a Swedish newspaper, appears to show Rocky running from one of the men and casting the man off of him, as the man appears to be attempting to grab him. It is unclear when in the exchange this took place.

Yesterday, prosecutor Fredrik Karlsson ordered Rocky to be held on a reduced assault charge than was originally determined mid-week.
Rocky’s band-mate A$AP Ferg offered an update to fans on Instagram. “They are trying to keep him there for two weeks and if convicted he will be looking at six years just for defending himself in a fight,” Ferg wrote on his social media page. “He was no way in form the aggressor in this ordeal. Pray for justice.”
