Run-DMC Teams Up With Fanatics for 'RUN CTY' Collection

The RUN-DMC logo has become an iconic symbol and now fans will have yet another way to rep the Queens crew.

RUN-DMC teamed up with Fanatics, the official licensed sports merchandiser, to launch an exclusive special edition RUN-CTY Collection. The new fashion statements combine the famous logo with sports colors including the New York Knicks’ orange and blue, Atlanta Hawks’ red, white and black and the Los Angeles’ Lakers’ yellow and purple. And in place of the “DMC” it has the teams’ hometown. For example, for the Lakers, it’s “RUN LAL.”

“It’s cool to have the RUN-DMC logo be part of this special collection,” said Darryl “DMC” McDaniels in a press release. “I like having the spirit of our music history tied into the passion of sports fans around the world.”

The exclusive logo is available on hoodies, T-shirts and snapbacks which can be purchased at FansEdge.com as well as the flagship NBA Store and NBAStore.com. On Thursday (Oct. 6), the collection will also be widely available on Fanatics.com as well as on its partner sites.

“Fanatics is constantly striving to find fresh and unique ways for fans to show love and support for their favorite teams. Through this unique collaboration, we’ve been able to create products that appeal to a broad range of fans –  casual ones who see this as a  more fashionable option, to the loyal supporters who want to add the latest team product to their wardrobe,” said Raphael Peck, president of Fanatics Branded in the same press release. “We’ve worked very closely with the RUN-DMC team to make sure we captured the essence of their iconic brand throughout all of the gear in this line.”

And that’s not all. Fans in New York can celebrate the launch at the NBA Store at 545 5th Avenue) with DMC himself on Wednesday (Oct. 5). There will also be a featured DJ session with the late Jam Master Jay’s son, TJ Mizell. The event kicked off at 11 a.m. and will continue until 1 p.m.
