Chris Brown Shows Off “High End” Music Video Vampire Makeup

There was no small amount of confusion when Chris Brown shared a freaky-looking picture on his Instagram profile on Sunday afternoon. No, he didn’t have any sort of reconstructive surgery or anything like that – he was just teasing his upcoming music video, which promises to showcase him donning a very different look.

The makeup and effects job, done by Kosart Effects Studios, was responsible for giving Brown a Buffy The Vampire Slayer look for the music video, which stars 2 Chainz and Young Thug as well. For those who haven’t seen it yet, the video’sthe video’s cast of ghosts and ghouls are many as the three well-known performers dance and rap their way through a series of images that look like they’d be more at home in the latest teen horror movie than the production for a music video. In keeping with the Halloween vibe of his upcoming album release, there is definitely a “Thriller”-type energy to the makeup work done here, especially when Brown, looking like a possessed being of sorts, rises from the coffin where he’s been presumably laid to rest.

Featuring the likes of Fabolous, Teyana Taylor, Trey Songz, Brian Cage and wrestling star Rey Mysterio Jr. in guest appearance roles, the video also sees a ghost version of Chainz riding around in a Rolls-Royce. Who knew that the undead had such good taste in vehicles?

Heartbreak On A Full Moon available now for pre-order on iTunes and promises to continue Chris Brown’s return to mainstream crossover form. His more recent singles like “Party” and “Privacy” have found enthusiastic audiences both within and outside the confines of hip-hop’s genre mechanics, which bodes well for the reception of this upcoming double release. Further to that, his Kevin Lyttle-sampled “Questions” has continued to make a dent on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Hip-Hop/R&B singles charts. Will a lavish music video like this heighten the anticipation and help give Heartbreak the added promotional push it needs before its official drop date? Only time will tell, but this much remains true: Brown is one of the best showmen working in the music industry today.
